Meet the Cornish Rex
Named after the Rex rabbit, the Cornish Rex is intelligent, inquisitive, and extroverted. They are playful and affectionate, showing resourcefulness in getting what they want!
Their coat is too fine to provide enough insulation, and protection is needed in cold weather. The short and soft coat lies close to the body and appears as waves of curls all over the cat, including the stomach. They can be groomed daily by stroking with a gloved hand. Their large, open ears need be checked and cleaned at regular intervals.
Originating in Cornwall, England in 1950, the Cornish Rex was apparently produced from a mutated gene. By 1976 in the United States, the cat was recognized for championship. At present, the cats are involved in world-wide competition.
In appearance, this cat is lean and resembles a Whippet dog with its arched back and pulled up stomach. The legs are long and thin, and the way it poses on its feet make the cat look as if it's standing on tiptoe. The Cornish Rex is a affectionate cat that is active and playful, acting like a kitten into maturity.
