Meet the Chartreux With their quiet nature, Chartreux cats make devoted companions and good travellers. Instead of meowing, these cats emit a sweet "chirrup" and also expertly purr. They make ideal pets and accept children and other family pets. Household noises do not bother them. They will even adapt to a harness for getting outdoor exercise, provided that they get to choose the destination! One unusual trait of the Chartreux is "praying" behavior, which seems to be a natural activity of some of these cats. Sometimes, kittens begin this behavior spontaneously when they are very young. Frequently, they may "beg" for food or affection by this praying attitude! In appearance, their faces have a sweet, smiling expression, showing alert intelligence and satisfaction. Their coat is short to medium in length, ranging from ash to slate grey in color. Eye color ranges from orange to a deep copper color, with a slight upward slant to the outer edge. Their straight nose is medium wide. The ears are medium in height and width and are high on the head and erect. The body is well-rounded with broad shoulders.
