Meet the Bombay
As their name indicates, Bombay cats resemble the black leopard of Bombay, India. Bombays are a cross between the Burmese and the black American Shorthair. Bombays are aware of what happens around them. They arrived in the United States in the late 1950s. By the late 1970s, they had attained Championship status.
Characterwise, they are companionable, affectionate, and playful. They prefer indoor life and dislike loud noises. They are intelligent and active. They fetch naturally and enjoy being around people. They should not be left alone too much because they can get into trouble easily! They are easy to feed and make great pets. Less vocal than most cats due to the cross breeding, they are known to rarely stop purring.
The Bombay is a medium-sized cat and is heavy for its size with medium length legs. The coat is short, fine, and shine. Occasional stroking with a gloved hand will maintain a glossy coat. Black is the only color variety.
