Meet the Singapura
The origin of the Singapura has caused some confusion. Only four cats in the United States form the base stock of this breed, and one breeder owns this stock. Because the gene pool is small, the future of the Singapura breed is in question.
These cats are still being developed in the United States, and they received championship standing in 1988. In the following show season, Singapuras attained an astounding victory by winning 22 grand championship titles!
Singapuras are small cats that are placid, undemanding, and good-natured. Patience and gentle handling can overcome their reserved nature. They enjoy life indoors with their humans and do not object to other animals being in the household.
The Singapuras' only color is sepia. Although their body is stocky and muscular, they are small in size. When standing, the body, legs, and the floor form a square. Hazel, yellow, or green are the only eye colors that are acceptable. Because the coat is silky, fine, and short, only an occasional combing is required for grooming.
Come on in and tell us about your Singapura!
